Meath Volunteer Wins National Volunteering Prize

Congratulations to one of our volunteers,  Mark Smith who has won the ‘Vodafone World of Difference’ competition.  He was one of 4 winners selected out of over 370 applicants nationwide.  The competition offers the winner the opportunity to work for the charity of their choice for a year, with the salary covered by Vodafone.

Mark will be working as a Projects Arts Officer with Navan Rehabcare.  Mark has been a very active volunteer with Rehabcare over the last year where he has developed numerous arts projects with the service users.  He has supported the service users as they explored and developed their creativity and showcased it to the wider community.  Mark has also lead many initiatives including the ‘Many Faces if Meath’ campaign that ran throughout Co Meath for May Social Inclusion Week.

We wish Mark the very best of luck in his role and look forward to collaborating with him on his many exciting projects in the coming year.

Meath Volunteer Centre is moving...

Meath Volunteer Centre is moving its main office to Kells.  Here we will join with Meath Partnership in our new offices on the Cavan Road.  Please be advised that during the moving process (March 31st and April 1st) we will not have access to our phone or IT communications while our systems are being transferred and setup.  However we will be back up and running on Tuesday April 6th.

Although our main offices will be in Kells we will still have outreach days in our old offices in Navan as well as various locations throughout the county.  The exact details of this have yet to be confirmed and we will let you know as soon as the dates and times have been finalised.

Celebration of Volunteering
MEATH CELEBRATES VOLUNTEERING

Voluntary activity is a very important component of a healthy and caring democratic society.  Without active volunteers, communities cannot flourish.  Events like today’s celebrations are therefore important in highlighting voluntary efforts, said Marjan Boers from the Meath Volunteer Centre at the ‘Celebration of Volunteering’ event in the Solstice.
It was a timely event as the celebrations took place on the day that the news was received from Minister John Curran T.D., that the centre would receive funding of €122,963.00 to continue their services into 2010.

Give Fundraising a Swirl!

An informative, interesting and well attended fundraising seminar was held on Tuesday 29th September in the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan. Michael Ludlow, CEO, Meath Partnership welcomed guest speakers - Deirdre Garvey, The Wheel, Peter Cronin, Alaymont International and Ciaran Macken, Rehab. The aim of the seminar was to inform those involved in not for profit organisations and charity organisations who are continually faced with the challenge of fundraising. Ms. Garvey, ended her presentation with a quote which really summed up the main message of the day - "It is not the strongest or the most intelligent of the species that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change" (C.Darwin).
