Volunteers Give it a Swirl in Co. Meath!

Individuals and teams of volunteers were busy all over Co. Meath on Friday the 25th, Give it a Swirl Day - Ireland's National Day of Volunteering. The events were coordinated by Meath Volunteer Centre and it was the first time Give it a Swirl has been held in Meath. Almost 100 volunteers were involved in a wide range of activities including - fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society, Environmental clean ups in Athboy and Trim, Painting and decorating of the Meath Disability Action Group Office in Kells, Morning of Reminiscing with Navan Active Retirement Group and Transition Year Students from Loreto Convent, Navan, Volunteer Awareness Day in St. Pauls Primary School, Navan and development of the National Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Ballivor. Many of those who took part on the day had never volunteered before, and we were delighted to give the opportunity to see how enjoyable volunteering can be. Thanks to all the community groups and individuals who helped make Give it a Swirl Day a great success!

The Event was sponsored nationally by Iarnrod Eireann. The Volunteer Centre is funded by the Department of Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
